About the Role:

As a Senior Media Relations Manager, you’ll be the mastermind behind media strategy and execution. Your mission… to secure top-tier media placements in print, online and broadcast media. You will lead best-in-class campaigns, and drive stellar results for trailblazing clients. You’ll work across B2B tech sectors, bringing industry insights and unmatched creativity to every project. We’re looking for candidates who go deep in their industries and have a fire in the belly!

What You’ll Do:

Account Management and Client Services

  • Serve as a senior account team member who becomes fluent with each client’s media relations goals, leading the concepting, planning, and execution of media relations campaigns. 
  • Oversee pitching and outreach that generates high quality press coverage aligned with client goals and objectives. 
  • Oversee development of and edit messaging and related collateral including press releases, pitches, briefings, fact sheets, FAQs, positioning statements, bios and backgrounders. 
  • Establish and maintain high-level media, analyst, blogger and influencer relationships.
  • Proactively stay attuned to market trends, instituting processes to cascade information and train account staff. 
  • Lead media tours and manage media at trade shows, conferences and events.
  • Conduct in-depth media training for clients.
  • Lead monthly media relations planning and activities. Ensure team members execute campaigns and report on progress to client, account leads and agency leadership.
  • Maintain profitability on assigned accounts by managing hours and agency resources aligned to budget.
  • Develop and manage media outreach calendars.
  • Ensure all client-facing materials are accurate, edited and meet communications standards. 
  • Lead client presentations reporting on campaign proposals, media landscape mapping, strategy and performance.
  • Support agency leadership and account leads with client success and management, identifying any risks early and developing response plans to successfully address and mitigate.
Agency Leadership and Operations
  • Manage network of media relations freelancers, identifying and vetting contacts for specific projects, executing contracts, and overseeing work on deliverables.
  • Mentor services team members, instilling values, providing support and guidance in client relations, campaign execution and internal collaboration. 
  • Identify training needs to design and execute training, educating staff on best practices and skills development.
  • Identify operational needs to assist in the vetting and selection of new software and resources. 
  • Optimize and implement workflow processes.


What You Bring to the Table:

  • A Proven Media Relations Pro: You’re an expert writer and meticulous editor with 8+ years of professional experience designing and managing media relations campaigns for B2B and technology brands. You have established relationships with Tier-1 business and trade producers, editors, and reporters alongside an impressive portfolio of earned media placements across national B2B and technology media outlets.
  • At the Forefront of News and Trends: You’re fluent in the B2B / tech media landscape and know which publications are ideal for specific verticals. You provide proactive ideas for clients to establish them as industry leaders. 
  • A Strategy-Driven Mindset: You design customized campaigns with data-backed strategies. You understand that smart media relations campaigns drive results critical to client retention and agency revenue growth. You have experience leveraging software tools and analytics to optimize strategies and report on results.
  • Meticulous with Messaging: You create campaigns with unique messaging aligned to the client’s voice that gets the attention of their target audience and differentiates them from competitors.
  • Excellence in Project Management: You have a strong track record of managing multiple campaigns simultaneously—big and small—while delivering results in a fast-paced deadline-oriented environment. You proactively report on progress and results to clients and manage deadlines for your team while communicating regularly with account leads to keep timelines on track.
  • A Respected and Reliable Leader: You have proven experience effectively overseeing junior team members, providing constructive feedback and coaching for success. You are a role model for the team, demonstrating and instilling the company values. Your Skills & Experience:

  • 8+ years combined agency, in-house corporate communications and/or journalism experience.
  • Superb verbal and written presentation skills.
  • Extremely responsive to media, client and staff correspondence, both during and outside office hours.
  • Expert-level AP Style knowledge.
  • Fluency in wire distribution services, media database and monitoring software including Business Wire, Cision, TrendKite and Muck Rack.
  • Level-headed, quick-thinking and adept at remaining focused under pressure.
  • Demonstrate a passion for team collaboration and client success.
  • Must think critically with limited supervision, effectively managing teams and timelines across multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills across all channels.
